Comedy: John Bishop

Cardiff International Arena

JOHN Bishop performed his new Sunshine tour this Wednesday and Thursday at Cardiff International Arena in front of two sold out audiences of 5,500 people.

Liverpudlian Bishop has a captivating stage presence and keeps the audience fixated on him throughout the duration of the show.

He is a natural comedian and draws mostly on life experience for his jokes, made all the more funny being told in his strong regional accent.

The tour focuses around John's spiral to fame over the last year after a decision 10 years ago to give up his career and concentrate on comedy.

The most amusing parts of the show are generally those of family encounters, which the entire audience can relate to.

The fact Bishop builds his material from life and family experiences, however, does mean his younger generation of fans cannot relate fully to a number of the jokes. Although the humour of occurring issues with wives and babies can be appreciated by all, these jokes were much better received by those people of a similar demographic to Bishop himself.

He is nonetheless a fantastic comedian and well worth seeing live. Tremendously entertaining, his enthralling nature means the show flies by and leaves the audience in stitches. A great tour.
