The Tuesday production day is already in full swing – phone calls are being made, news lists are being drawn up and then immediately revised, and our news editor is already showing signs of going prematurely grey – but that won’t stop the Cardiffian Daily from giving you the best of the web.
A 10 mile midnight walk through the streets of Cardiff may not sound like the ideal way to spend a girls’ night out, but when it’s raising £100,000 for charity, and involves a free bacon butty and glass of champagne we could probably be convinced.
The Ab-Fab Trainers and Tiarassponsored charity walk, in aid of The Joshua Foundation takes place on April 28 from Cardiff Bay, and registration is now open. Anyone who fancies getting involved can download an application form, which needs to be submitted by April 23. Registration costs £15, which includes a bacon roll and glass of champers on the night, so swap your dancing shoes for your walking boots and get out there and raise some serious cash!
Local blogger @GregJLewis has drawn our attention to a powerful short film about dementia, which has been nominated for a prestigious Guild of Health Writer’s Award. The piece by ITV Wales follows former Methodist minister Jim McWade in his battle against Alzheimer’s disease. You can find out more about the making of the film on the ITV Wales blog.
We’ve covered the cake-based goings on at @CardiffCakeOff already on the Cardiffian Daily, and following the success of their weekend tea part flash mob those crafty bakers are planning another stunt to raise money for @Tyhafan Children’s Hopsice. They’ve promised free tea and cakes at a ‘Pop Up’ Tea Party as soon as they reach 1,500 followers. Their Twitter account is currently on 1,136, so give ‘em a follow and be sure to #Spreadthecakelove!
Here at Cardiffian HQ we never had Where’s Wally down as a fashion trendsetter, but we were won over by fashion blogger Pookie’s latest post. She’s definitely working a great red and white striped outfit, with an excellent find on a pair of cute cut-price shoes. Definitely one to stand out from the crowd!
Some people may say that watching films is a waste of time, but the film buffs at Cardiff-based All Geek To Memovie blog have been busy proving that a cinematic education can pay off with their 39 More Rules We Learned From Movies. If you ever wondered why training montages are so important to the plucky amateur athlete, why you should always refuse the invitation to an aging Manor House, or why you should never, ever live in New York then you need to check this out.
Not content with sitting top of the 6 Nations table, the Welsh national team now is storming up the music charts as well. Several members Warren Gatland’s team have already professed their love for The Blims, the Bridgend-based folk band whose Welsh rugby anthem is making a surprise bid for chart success. Side Steps & Side Burns, the band’s tribute to the national side is currently #4 in the iTunes rock charts, behind Fleetwood Mac and Paul Weller, and is currently outselling US giants Bruce Springsteen and Foo Fighters.
You can download the track for 79p from the iTunes site here to show your support
