New Wales skipper Aaron Ramsey still believes his old club Cardiff City can join him in the Premier League.

The Caerphilly-born playmaker, who played 23 times for the Bluebirds in two spells at his boyhood club, also thanked City for a loan spell he believes has prepared him for Arsenal’s title run-in.

The Bluebirds are in the midst of a run of form which has seen them go from automatic promotion candidates to clinging to a play-off position, after picking up just two points from a possible 12.

Two early goals from Frank Lampard and Darren Bent were enough to beat Wales despite an improved Dragons performance after the break.

Two early goals from Frank Lampard and Darren Bent saw Wales suffer another loss in their European qualifying group.

The second half performance was better for Wales, but they remained disappointingly toothless despite matching England’s possession after the break.

If critics accused Gary Speed of being naive in naming Aaron Ramsey captain, they will have had plenty to say about the Wales manager’s ambitious approach against England.

The Bluebirds look to life after Aaron as they take on Ipswich Town in tomorrow's Championship clash

Promotion-chasing Cardiff City host Ipswich Town in a vital Championship clash tomorrow evening, but will be without the services of the influential Aaron Ramsey.

The midfielder has returned to parent club Arsenal following his successful month-long loan spell, during which The Bluebirds claimed 14 points from their seven games in February.

And the question of how the third-placed side will cope with his absence is the major talking point ahead of the visit of Paul Jewell's Tractor Boys.
