Archipelago, Joanna Hogg's follow up to Unrelated, comes to Chapter Arts in Cardiff from April 1 to 7.

The eagerly awaited follow-up to Joanna Hogg’s critically acclaimed debut Unrelated follows an upper middle-class family on a getaway on the idyllic Isles of Scilly, before the son Edward embarks on a charity expedition to Africa.

Edward’s father’s attendance is eagerly anticipated, although sister Cynthia appears to be present under some duress, going through dutiful motions with her doting mother, being tutored in oil painting and taking picnics.

A CARDIFF charity has been helping members of the Somali community fill in census forms, amid fears a low uptake could lead to under-representation.

A CARDIFF charity has been helping members of the Somali community fill in census forms, amid fears a low uptake could lead to underrepresentation.

Abdi Hassan of the Somali Integration Society said he hoped his organisation had helped more than 100 people fill in the form.

"We are basically explaining the form to them and the fact there is a fine attached to it, and also that it does contribute to resource allocation.

A cluster of Cardiff schools received a visit from Africa this week as part of a British Council scheme, set up to bring an international dimension to pupil learning.

A cluster of Cardiff schools received a visit from Africa this week as part of a British Council scheme, set up to bring an international dimension to pupil learning.

Cathays High School have been liasing with teachers from Ghana and Nigeria as part of the Connecting Classrooms project and organised a three-day visit for their international guests to experience their partner city.

During the visit, teachers exchanged classroom methods and experienced life in a British school to enhance their own teaching in their home country.

Randa Abdelnabi, 30, is studying for a masters in Magnetics at Cardiff University. On Friday her cousin, 35-year-old Achor Hamd, was  attacked by a mob near the city of Benghazi and repeatedly kicked and beaten. Mr Hamd, a recently married schoolteacher, died of his injuries soon after.

Unlike money and fame, hygiene and good health are unglamourous but paramount to a decent life. Be it in deepest Africa, the fringes of Eastern Europe or gentle Wales, keeping clean and well fed is vital to having a decent existence.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), a Government body tasked with championing such ideals, has taken decisive action to ensure good hygiene across Cardiff by applying ratings to all establishments in the city serving food. And to make these more accountable, the FSA has now published these ratings on its website for all to see.
