The AFC Butetown pitch is consistently littered with used needles

A FOOTBALL coach in Cardiff has described the “continual fight” against used needles which are discarded around their pitch every week.

Christian Wagstaff, 40, said he has to arrive early every week to clear the area around the pitch in parkland behind Loudoun Square, where AFC Butetown play their matches.

The team recently had to have gates fitted on the dugouts because users would shelter underneath them when it was raining.

The council has received more than 100 complaints about the proposals

CONTROVERSIAL plans to build a wakeboarding facility in a dock in Cardiff Bay have sailed into choppy waters.

Councillors are set to decide the project’s future tomorrow.

The plan for Bute East Dock, Hemingway Road, was initially approved by planning officers but the proposal got stuck at the committee stage.

If approved, the wakeboarding facility would consist of a single board pulled across the bay by a motorised cable system suspended from pylons.

Surfers would ride the waves created by the board.
