Chinese New Year celebrations in Cardiff included a lion dance, flying lettuce and lots of music and food.

Over the weekend, party-goers welcomed the Year of the Snake.

The Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay kicked off the celebrations on Saturday as the center hosted demonstrations, free craft workshops, themed stalls and traditional Chinese food.

How Cardiffians from across the city are seeing in the year of the snake.

Celebrations for the Chinese New Year will be taking place across Cardiff this weekend.

The Red Dragon Centre in the Bay is kicking off the celebrations this Saturday and seeing in the Year of the Snake. They will be hosting demonstrations, free craft workshops, themed stalls and traditional Chinese food.

The event will be held between 12pm-6pm, in partnership with the Cardiff Confucius Institute.

Riverside welcomes in the Year of the Dragon in style with a traditional Lion Dance show.

A dreary Sunday morning in Riverside was broken with the rapid and loud noises of a banging drum and cymbals yesterday.

Chinese and locals alike were at Tudor Street for a Lion Dance show in celebration of Chinese New Year.

The lion dance is commonly seen during Chinese New Year to ward away the evil spirit “Nian”, which brings bad luck to businesses.

Chinese New Year in Riverside, Cardiff, saw a two-metre long dragon, traditional dance and some shocked locals having a haircut.

Locals enjoying a haircut in Riverside got a surprise this afternoon, when a two-meter long
lion leapt into the building.

The lion, operated by a local martial arts group in costume, paraded along Tudor Street
today in celebration of Chinese New Year.

The Lion Dance is a Chinese tradition, performed at New Year to bring good luck.

The library will hold Chinese New Year celebrations to mark the Year of the Rabbit.

Cardiff Central Library will welcome the Year of the Rabbit on Saturday, in their first celebration of the Chinese New Year.

The celebration, which marks the third day of the Chinese New Year, will include a story telling session from local children's author Richard Berry, as well as a dragon dance and a Tai Chi taster session.

Members of the Cardiff Chinese Elderly Association are supporting the event and will be running traditional Chinese workshops in calligraphy and lantern making.
