Unite union members move closer to action over lack of safety and job security

Cardiff petrol stations have warned of widespread panic buying after the threat of a strike by fuel tanker drivers moved a step closer.

More than 2,000 members of the Unite union at seven companies across the UK yesterday voted overwhelmingly in support of their first national campaign of action for over a decade.

A satire on the world of cosmetic surgery and perceptions of the beautiful body, Prosthetic Soul is a bit like an episode of Holby City with sudden bursts of song.

Prosthetic Soul is a collaboration between Mr and Mrs Clark and Volcano, which they call a medical musical. A little bit like an episode of Holby City with sudden bursts of songs, and lots of teeth and big hair.

But Prosthetic Soul is not a typical sugar-coated, painted smiles show. Instead it is a satire on the world of cosmetic surgery and perceptions of the beautiful body.

Sitting beside Daedelus’s laptop is his prized Monome. This mysterious box, comprised of a hundred or so sporadically lighting buttons, hypnotises the crowd.

Rachel Conner visits The Big Pit in in pursuit of "black gold"

Few industries are as synonymous with a nation as mining is to Wales.  The Big Pit in Blaenavon is testament to the importance of the "black gold", so abundant in this part of the world, to Welsh life and heritage.

Though closed in 1979, Big Pit is Wales' oldest mine, and the main attraction now is a 50 minute underground tour of the unused mine shafts.

The guide, Des Harris, 62, from Markham, has been working down mines since the age of 15 and has a fair bit of experience under his belt.

Of all Wales's great cities, few are as lively as Cardiff. A rich cultural scene, some boisterous sporting clans and a buzzing nightlife make it a haven for young things looking for thrills. For all its problems, it is never lacking energy.

Of all Wales's great cities, few are as lively as Cardiff. A rich cultural scene, some boisterous sporting clans and a buzzing nightlife make it a haven for young things looking for thrills. For all its problems, it is never lacking energy.

And excitingly enough, things are only looking to get livlier. Koko Gorilaz, a Cathays bar popular with the city's bright and beautiful university students, has applied for the right to play amplified music and serve drinks until 3am.

Cardiff residents have voiced their anger as a 120-metre tall wind turbine in Trowbridge is set to become operational next week.

The huge structure, built by energy company Ecotricity, went up on January 19 at Wentloog Environmental Centre, off Wentloog Road but has been branded by some residents as an eyesore.

The decision to build a wind turbine in a Cardiff suburb is part of a vital move away from fossil fuels, but the lack of consultation with residents should give green-minded planners food for thought.

The decision to build a 120-metre tall wind turbine off Wentloog Road, Rumney may have been an admirable attempt by the energy company Ecotricity to move away from fossil fuels, but the lack of consulation with residents should give green-minded planners food for thought.

Though the chief financial officer of the green electricity company claims there was a full public consultation, the fact nobody raised any concerns should have seemed strange.
