A couple of Cardiff groups have created a map plotting where food does and can grow in the city.

The allotment is the usual haunt of the green-fingered gardener, but two Cardiff-based community groups are about to change all that.

Farm Cardiff and Orchard Cardiff are leading the drive to get gardening-mad Cardiffians growing their own fruit and vegetables by mapping every potential area where food could, and does, grow. Their aim is to make Cardiff a more sustainable city by getting more food grown locally by communities.

IF YOU watch Dora the Explorer, you’ll notice she never gets taken to a dark wood by her parents and abandoned.
Peppa Pig never witnesses a wolf being slaughtered and her tramautised grandmother slithering out. Dora and Peppa go on picnics to the zoo instead, and while the occasional balloon may float away, no-one gets mauled or kidnapped.

Find out where to get your fix of pool and pork scratchings with our top 3 pub bloggers.

The Pint of 45 duo are well established on the Cardiff blogging scene. Oliver and Phil have just posted their 100th review of a city pub, and say there are still many more pubs before they run out of new places to drink. Each review comes with pictures and an irreverent write-up – they consider whether the Pear Tree in Roath “is sinking into the ground or whether this is just a slightly wonky photo”, for example. Worth a read for a chuckle reading about pubs you already frequent, or to suss out where to go for the next drink.

He’s cute, he’s furry, he’s eager to please – and he’s also called Cardiff.

This is one Welsh terrier who’s never chased a cat through Bute Park or gone for walkies in the Bay, but that didn’t stop celebrity vet Patrick Mahaney from naming him after the capital.

Cardiff and his owner live in Los Angeles, California, where Patrick makes house calls to look after the pets of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, though his canine best friend is never far from his side.
