Riverside Market tackles Ugandan poverty

The visit was funded by the Welsh Government to share knowledge between Riverside Market and Uganda 

STEVE GARRETT knows a thing or two about making businesses work for the community.

Twenty years after he set up Riverside Farmers’s Market, it has become one of the busiest and most popular in Wales. Last year, he was nominated for a Green Dragons Den Award and is involved in community food projects across Wales.

Now Steve, who lives in Riverside, is using his business know-how to help Ugandan widows out of poverty.

Welsh Unsigned Stand-up Award heats

Starting at Chapter Arts Centre in Canton at 8pm and sponsored by the Glee Club, the WUSA aims to uncover the best up-and-coming Welsh comedic talent.  There'll be 6-8 contenstants in a series of heats leading up to semi-finals in July, and a final on July 23 at the Glee Club. It's £5 on the door for a night of guaranteed giggles.
