Wales's coach is confident his young side can topple the Azzurri to set up a Grand Glam show down with France a week on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of Wales’s Six Nations clash against Italy, coach Warren Gatland warned his side not to underestimate opponents Italy.

"They’re a team in transition and that can take time, but they’re still very strong up front. The first 20 or 30 minutes will be a war of attrition," said Gatland.

Italy are set to make seven changes for their Six Nations tie against Wales on Saturday as Bergamasco and Burton return for the Azzurri.

Italy coach Jacques Brunel has made seven changes for the Azzurri’s clash against Wales with the relegation of Tobias Botes to the bench in favour of Kris Burton.

Saturday’s fixture also sees the return of Mirco Bergamasco to the left wing to reach his 86th cap with Luke McLean moving to the right. Bergamasco will not however take over kicking duties as he has done in the past with Burton taking up the responsibility.

Cardiff RFC moved back into sixth in the Principality Premiership with a crushing 42-16 win over a woeful Newport RFC.

The Blue and Blacks feasted on six tries, with only their own sloppiness preventing them from adding more. Dan Godfrey, who again shone for the home-side, opened and closed the RFC scoring, and once the wrecking ball Number 8 had smashed over in the third minute for his first of two tries on the day, Cardiff looked on their way to victory.

Wales enter the final round of fixtures in the 2011 Six Nations with an outside chance of claiming a third title in seven years.

But they must first rely on championship leaders England slipping to defeat in Ireland, who will be looking to bounce back after last Saturday’s controversial defeat in the Millennium Stadium.

If the Red Rose nation do miss out on a Grand Slam, Wales know a substantial victory over a France team in turmoil could be enough to secure the crown.

James Hook will move back to fly-half for Wales's Six Nations clash with Ireland in Cardiff on Saturday, with the fit-again Jonathan Davies restored at centre.

While the future of the Ospreys looks increasingly dismal following the departure of two of their star players, the Blues have secured yet another contract.

Welsh winger Tom James has followed in the footsteps of fellow Wales international Sam Warburton and agreed a new contract extension with the Blues on Tuesday.

But as the Blues squad looks increasingly strong for next season, the Ospreys future remains uncertain, having lost two key players in James Hook and Lee Byrne to French regions, and there are rumours of more to follow.

Wales return to form with win against Scotland to kick-start the Six Nations challenge.

Wales secured just their third win in 14 internationals with a 24-6 win against Scotland at Murrayfield this weekend.

The result was the ideal response for Wales following their opening-day defeat to England.

The Three Feathers went into the game as underdogs but were in control from the sixth minute when James Hook marked his return to the fly-half role with a moment of magic.

He sliced through a gaping hole in the Scottish defence to release the prolific Shane Williams who scored his 52nd international try.
