OBSESSIVE compulsive disorder is a condition which subjects the sufferer to repetitive and upsetting thoughts or behaviours.
Those who suffer from the disorder find themselves held hostage by a whole range of thoughts and feelings which are disruptive to their daily lives. Some are forced into compulsive behaviours to help ease these thoughts.
The disorder itself can range in severity and many people cope by completing simple rituals or by trying to exercise mental control to push these thoughts from their minds.
